VOOM satellite service is an
unusual service. VOOM, available
through Rainbow DBS, offers clients the first satellite service to emphasize a
High Definition (HD) Channel package.
While VOOM certainly offers some of the same programming as other
satellite services, they also include service with over 35 High Definition
Channels.
VOOM's service is also
unusual in terms of their programming packages. Most satellite services offer a confusing menu of packages
- sometimes up to five or more packages. Customers have to wade through the channel packages to even
determine what's different from package to package. Plus the prices vary widely.
A variety of prices can be an intriguing possibility for customers.
However, VOOM is not positioning themselves to be the most competitive
service in terms of pricing. They are instead offering the most diverse programming in High Definition
programming.
VOOM offers two packages:
- VOOM Package: This package is made up of 21 HD
channels - sports, travel, music, etc. In addition, VOOM offers the standard cable channels, CNN,
ESPN, Oh! Network, and others - all in digital quality. Included with this package is the HD
MarqueePack - channels like Discovery HD Theater, TNT and Universal in HD
- plus the standard Sportspack - ESPN HD, Fox Sports World, Golf
Channel, and more. Costs for this
package start at $49.90 per month (not including any equipment).
- VaVa VOOM package: This
package includes not only all the programming mentioned in the VOOM package,
but also PlusPacks. PlusPacks are
the extended programming from a particular channel, such as all the programming
channels under the HBO Company, Cinemax, Starz! and Showtime. This package starts at $89.90 per
month. VaVa Voom offers over 120 channels of programming in all.
VOOM offers customers an exceptional choice in High Definition programming as well as an exciting line
up of programs. While VOOM's service may be more expensive than standard satellite TV companies, the
programming will certainly appeal to HD customers.
